Restorative dentistry involves fixing a tooth that has been damaged either by tooth decay, trauma, or every day wear and tear. Usually this involves what is commonly called a “filling”.
At Bright Light Dental we no longer use silver fillings (Amalgam) and will always try our best to match your filling to your tooth colour, which is preferred by most patients.
This therapy is commonly referred to as Root Canal Treatment and is usually required because the inner part of the tooth, “The Pulp” becomes inflamed or infected.
This can quite often cause the tooth to be very painful and/or sensitive to hot and/or cold. For the pain to subside and to save the tooth, it’s necessary to remove the infection which is contained within the pulp and nerves of the tooth’s roots, before sealing the tooth’s canals with a rubber filling. Usually this process is carried out over 2-3 appointments depending if pain persists.
A Crown is a tooth shaped “cap” that is used to cover a tooth. A crown is often used to cover badly broken down teeth, worn teeth or discoloured teeth. They are highly recommended after having endodontic treatment on a tooth as it then becomes very weak and brittle, a crown can strengthen that tooth.
A Bridge is a fixed dental restoration, used to replace a missing tooth and/or teeth, by joining an artificial tooth to the adjoining teeth.
At Bright Light Dental we offer 3 different types of teeth whitening products. In chair laser teeth whitening, this is a once off 90 minute appointment, and is completed using the Smart Bleach products.
We also offer a take home tray system. We will custom make your whitening trays at the dental lab before giving you 10 syringes of the Pola Night whitening kit. This usually involves a 2 week process of wearing these trays for 40 minutes each night.
Our final option for teeth whitening is Opalescence. It’s a simple, fast and great tasting way to have whiter teeth. With no impressions or custom trays needed, it is ready to use straight out of the box, and only takes 15 minutes per day.
